Prevalence and risk factors of myopia among students of University of Lahore, Pakistan

Abstract
Objective: To assess the prevalence and risk factors of myopia and most common type of myopia among the university students.
Methodology: This analytical cross-sectional study included medical and non-medical students in the University of Lahore and was carried out from March to December 2022. We used a self-design questionnaire.
Result: Out of 400 students, myopia was found in 61% medical students and 48% in non-medical students. Fewer female medical students used contact lenses and experienced eye issues. Usage of contact lens in medical students was in 16% as compared to 24% in non- medical students. The risk factors were watching TV, and using computers.
Conclusion: Myopia more common in medical students as compared to non-medical students.
