Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health among female students of Bahria University Health Sciences Campus, Karachi, Pakistan

Abstract
Objective: To assess the level of knowledge of basic Reproductive Health among the first-year female students at Bahria University Health Sciences Campus, Karachi, Pakistan
Methodology: This descriptive observational cross-sectional study was conducted at the Bahria University Health Sciences Campus. Karachi, Pakistan from September to December 2023. The participants were first year female students in the age group 18 years and above. Google Forms were distributed among the students. We used SPSS 21 for data analysis.
Result: Mean age of first menstruation was reported to be 13.5 years and 80% of the participants had mothers as the main source of information for onset of menstruation. Majority (75%) of the participants were aware of the physiological changes in their body. Books were the main source of information. Most (62%) were familiar with condoms being the main source of contraceptive methods. There was better knowledge of reproductive health among students from the MBBS program, belonging to better residential localities and with high monthly income.
Conclusion: There was adequate knowledge of reproductive health issues among young adult females of BUHSC-K.
