Abstract
Objective: To describe our technique of mid-thigh prosthetic arteriovenous loop graft for hemodialysis access, and to assess our results in terms of patency rates and complications. Methodology: We conducted a retrospective analysis of the data of patients who underwent mid-thigh prosthetic arteriovenous loop graft at the vascular department of King Hussein Medical Center, Amman, Jordan from January 2010-October 2013. We reviewed the medical records of the patients, operating room records, vascular laboratory records, and dialysis units records to collect pertinent data.
Results: A total of 44 patients underwent the procedure during the study period. 19 (43.2%) were males and 25 (56.8%) were females. The primary and secondary patency rates at one year were 62.5% and 82.5% and at two years 56% and 68%, respectively. The overall infection rate was 9.1%.
Conclusion: The mid-thigh prosthetic arteriovenous loop graft is a viable option for hemodialysis- dependent patients with exhausted upper limbs, and it has good patency and low complication rates.

Key words: Vascular access, hemodialysis, arteriovenous fistula.
