Parents’ satisfaction with physical therapy treatment for diplegic cerebral palsy children

Abstract
Objective: To determine and compare the level of satisfaction of parents about physical therapy treatment in parents having children with diplegic cerebral palsy seen at government and private hospitals.
Methodology: This comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from February 2016 to July 2016. Data were collected from the parents of diplegic cerebral palsy patients from the outpatient’s departments of private and government hospitals of Lahore. A non-probability consecutive sampling technique was used and sample size of 200 was calculated. Parent’s satisfaction was evaluated by Physiotherapy Patient satisfaction survey. Independent sample t-test was used to compare the level of satisfaction between two groups.
Results: The level of satisfaction of parent’s was higher in private hospitals as compared to government settings.
Conclusion: Parents of children with cerebral palsy in private hospitals were more satisfied with physical therapy treatment as compare to parents in government hospitals. Their satisfaction level can be improved by easing their access to physiotherapy department, providing quality care and compassionate behavior of the therapist.
