Recovery beliefs and relapse tendencies in addicts: Moderating role of self-control

Abstract
Objective: The study examined the moderating role of self-control between recovery beliefs and prediction of relapse tendencies among adult addicts.
Methodology: This study had been conducted in Sargodha, Islamabad, Lahore, and Kashmir cities of Pakistan and was completed in one year. Three instruments including Recovery Attitude Questionnaire, Self-Control Scale and Advance Warning of Relapse Questionnaire were used for data collection from 150 Adult addicts age 18 to 65 under treatment in rehabilitation centers.
Results: The findings confirmed the interaction effect of recovery beliefs and self-control on relapse tendencies among addicts.
Conclusion: The study confirmed the role of protective factors, which can be helpful in relapse prevention for drug addicts.
