Does Gender matter? Perception of female surgeons among male patients in a tertiary care teaching hospital

Abstract
Objective: To determine how is the lady surgeons perceived as a health care provider by the male gender in a developing country.
Methodology: This study was conducted at tertiary care hospital from August 2017 to August 2108. Male patients were surveyed to get their opinions.
Results: Total of 77 individual were included in the study. The age of the patients was 50±1.715 years. All were males; 29(37.6%) of these were single and 47(61%) were married with one widower (1.3%). Forty percent of the individuals had graduate level.
Conclusion: Pakistani society accepts female surgeons to be a professional health care provider and accepts their roles without much gender bias. Thirty one present believed that females can take up any kind of surgical field as a professional career.
